Swaledale and Arkengarthdale Archaeology Group (SWAAG) – a treasure trove of searchable information contained in large and expanding databases of landscape archaeology, woodlands, and the archives and exhibits of the Swaledale Museum, together with Victorian tithe records and maps, manorial records and much more information of interest to historians as well as archaeologists.

Swaledale and Arkengarthdale Local History Group –  information about an informal sub-group of SWAAG. Participants in the Local History Group do not have to join SWAAG, although many of them are members.

Upper Dales Family History Group – a branch of the Cleveland, North Yorkshire & South Durham Family History Society, dedicated to families with roots in the upper Yorkshire dales of Wensleydale and Swaledale. It has a vibrant online discussion forum accessible through Yahoo Groups at dalesfhs.
